1985 454 dually quad cab

Hi guys. I'm from the UK, and I'm contemplating purchasing this:

I've had a search, and looked through the FAQ where I saw that bouncing speedo's can be a problem, and I just wondered if anyone has any other buyers advice, info on common problems etc? Obviously in the UK this is a far from common choice of transport so information is non existent.

I'd be purchasing it to tow a race car to some of our closer tracks (We have a decent Merc van for when we feel like being sensible) But what are these things actually like to tow with? It would be fully laiden with wheels, tyres and gear, and towing about 2 tons. Are the brakes up to stopping a mini road train like that? Obviously it's on bags, but has dampers so shouldn't be to bouncy.

Thanks for any input, and if you think I'm asking in the wrong place, please point me in the right direction :)

bouncing speedo is a common and easily fixed problem......this problem is why everyone went to magnetic pickup speed sensors.......that body style is sound and was used for a very long time.........bed sides rust off...ect I cant think of any real major problems other than rust....as far as towing...yes the drive train can handle it....brakes...thats a diffrent story......sounds like you should have trailer brakes if you are hauling that much.......with brakes and a controller...you should not have any problems......

Thanks for the quick reply.
The trailer is braked, so it's not all that bad, but it is nice to know that a vehicle could stop itself adequately when fully laiden.
Here's a question that sounds a bit dumb when looking at a car like this, and also probably doesn't matter as much to you guys as it does to us (as we pay 9USD a gallon), but what sort of MPG could I expect?

HAHAHAHAHAHA...........MPG with a 454 is not very good at all.............maybe 7-10mpg at best would be my guess

Hello! That looks like a decent looking truck to me, but as Chris said... you will get absolutely horrid fuel economy... especially when towing
