1988 chevy z71

i have a 1988 k1500 and a tooth broke off on the ring. what rear axle housings are compatible? i have a 1999 chevy tahoe, would it work with no modification as long as the gears are the same?

thanks that helped alot and i went to a salvage yard and they looked in a manual they had
