1993 sometimes it cranks
 

I have a 1993 that cranks sometimes and when it wont the lights in the dash come on and the gauges like normal but when you turn the key to start it does nothing other times you hop in and it fires right up I hav echecked the battery and cables could this be starter ,netural safety switch or what?

that happend to my suburban, i had to climb under the truck to tug on the starter wire. im no mech, but its worth a try.

Sounds like a bad starter or solenoid. It's a cheap fix, but not an easy one. i would drop the starter and clean off the connectors first. Make sure they're not corroded or anything.
