1996 driveshaft removal help

Default 1996 driveshaft removal help

I am having trouble removing the driveshat out of my 1996 chevy.l It is one piece. The front is a yoke going into the transfer case, The back is held in with bolts. manual says to remove bolts and drop driveshaft but it wont budge. What am I doing wrong?

Hit that **** with a hammer it should break lose.

DO NOT hit it with a hammer......a pry bar will remove it safely with out the possibility of missing and denting the drive shaft......if it has been in there a while it will take some doing......you need to remove the drive shaft from the axle first...then at the t case

Yes slip a small pry bar inbetween the U joint and the rear end yoke and push gently to get it free be careful to not drop a u joint cap as you may loose a needle bearing or two

I meant with a dead blow hammer so it wouldnt dent the drive shaft.
