1996 K1500 issues

Hey everyone, I've been encountering issues with my truck and hopefully someone can help. I go to startthe truckin the mornings andit cranks and cranks but won't turn over. I have to do this a few times before I finally getting the motor running. Then after driving it for a bit it starts up fine the rest of the day. So from sitting over night or long periods, this issue arises. I’m thinking it’s some sort of fuel issue??

The second issue is random misfire while I'm driving on the highway. It's intermittent, has happened 3 times now when I accelerate over 60mph over the course of 1.5 months. I was thinking crappy gas but this has happened with a tank of 93oct. fuel. I even ran a bottle of fuel system cleaner. But now I’m out of ideas

I’ve changed my plugs and oil and maintain the truck very regularly. Has anyone encountered issues like this? Any help on this will be much appreciated!

How old is your battery and when is the last time it got new spark plugs?

My plugs are about a month old. I used AC Delco plugs. The battery was in the truck when I bought it a year ago so I don't know how old it is. It probably could use replacing.

Iyou can get a fuel pressure gauge leave it on over night to see if you lose pressure over night. Also you should change your distributor cap and rotor in fact that's were I would start.

Thanks I'll give that a shot, what will it mean if I lose fuel pressure over night?

You got a leak. next step finding it. I start with a cap and rotor first good chance thats it and they are pretty cheap. Plus a fuel pressure gauge is like 50 bucks or so.

when did you change fuel filter, if you have one that can be changed.
I lost my fuel pump at 45K, but it went all at once, however, some linger on for a time causing other problems.
I would get the fuel pressure checked as said before, believe it runs around 50-60 psi.

as soon as you turn ignition on in the mornings do you hear the fuel pump running?

if so, let it run a bit before you try to start truck. If it starts ok after letting pump run for 30 secs then, i would guess you are losing fuel pressure.

If so, be looking for a new fuel pump, be sure to buy the best pump you can buy, gm delco unit, its the trip of replacing the pump thats the problem. You do not want to do in again in about 3 months.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I'm hoping it's not the fuel pump,I've changed it on 2 different vehiclesbefore and it sucked, but the truck does have 180K on it. I'm hard of hearing as it is from too many concerts so not sure if I can hear the pump turn on but if the truck runs fine the rest of the day is it safe to assume the pump is working?
