1998 Silverado 2wd automatic transmission

I have two questions:

1. Where can I find what exact automatic transmission is my truck; I was under the darn thing and all I could find were these numbers; 49, 24206579 and 16 bolts on the pan. Would that make it the 4L60E or what?

2. Depending on which transmission it is, I will need one. I lost reverse, 2nd and 3rd gear. So if anyone has one laying around, I would be interested. Or can I fix it myself. I work on all my cars but have not had my hands in a transmission except to change a clutch and pressure plate.

Thanks in advance

If it is a 1/2 ton and automatic in 1998 it has to be a 4L60E.

4L60E........have you run a line pressure test on it? Sounds like you broke the sunshell....rebuilds aretime consuming but not that hard.

I have the same situation think its the sunshell but mine is a 1997 2wd extended cab short bed. I was told I can't use a 1996 I just want to try and get the right one before I tear it apart. what if it's from a camaro or impala is a 4L60e gonna work no matter what I've seen one piece two piece three piece so confused set me straight please lol
