1999 5.3 1500 4x4, everytime it rains the truck won't start? It turns over a fires but just stalls. After a few hours of sun, it starts right up? Any suggestions? Somethings getting moisture but what? Thanks

???????? the 5.3 is distributorless right? if so I would start looking at your coil packs and double check that ALL your wires are seated fully.....does it fire and run and then die? or does it try to start and never fully run????

 

It will start and run for 2-3 seconds then die. Some have said its the passlock system, but it only does it in the rain. Very frustrating.

 

well first we need to verify what is stopping when it dies (ie is it losing fuel or fire or both) I would assume you could simulate rain with a water hose and test fuel pressure and spark. If you are driving it and it starts to rain does it die or stay running untill you shut it off?

 

Check the starter and starter relay/ cyliniod... the NOID is getting you or the Gremlin is...lol Good luck.

 

Only happens on a cold start, never when driving. When it stalls it sounds just like its running out of fuel. I have it at the dealer now. I told them to check the passlock security system. We'll see what happens. Thanks for all the replys!
