I have a 1999 Silverado 4X4 2500. I heard a noise the other day and found two cracks on the backside of the rear passenger side hub. It's where the emergency brake cable goes through the cast iron piece in the rear from the outside. Again this appears to be cast iron. There is an accordian rubber piece that is a part of the brake cable that goes through it. Can anyone tell what that piece is called or is there some type of online manual I can go to so I see what the name of it is. It looks like I will have to pull the rear axle to get to it.

Damn that sucks. My guess would be to go down to you local autoarts store and pick up a Chiltons or a Haynes manual. They're only like 15 USD or so. It shouold have what you are looking for in there. Good luck. Hopefully it wont be too expensive of a fix..
