Hello,My 1999 Silverado 5.3 wont start. You turn the key to crank and will run for less than a second and shut off. What could the problem be. Truck has new regulator and gm fuel pump last year. First time ever having a problem.

 

sounds like a theft issue..is the security lite flashing/

 

Does it run if you hold down the gas on start-up?

 

Argon is right about the theft system. I have a 99 silverado and mine did the same thing but was intermittent and had no security light I took it to the dealer and they said it was the theft system in the ignition switch, about $400 later good as new, also mine happened at 39000 miles[:'(]

 

damn them theft issues these seem to be poppin up alot now a days

 

we've bneen battling em for years..grand ams are the worst
