2000 chevy silverado z71
I have a 2000 chevy silverado with 267,000 miles on it, the motor is very strong, the problem is that when I start it, it sounds like a diesel, it quiets down after the motor is warm. I have had several chevy trucks with lifter knock but not this bad. is there a fix ? can I replace the stock lifters and pushers ? thanks Gregg

RE: 2000 chevy silverado z71
you must be using good oil and filters or you would not have 267K on engine.
I would change oil and filter and add 1 qt of Lucas oil stablizer to engine, this stuff seams to quieten down older looser engines. Seams to help with my old 350 engine. $10 worth a try If not, you have gotten more miles out of engine than most of us will everget. My friend tradedhis 96 off the other day with over 314K miles, still ran like a song using 10w40 valvoline, oil change at 8K intervals. |
