I'm looking at a 2001 Suburban with a 8.1L in it with 171,000 miles on it. Wondering if anyone has first hand experience with this engine and what life can I expect from it? I'm concerned with the 171,000 mileage on the clock!

 

i know a few people who have 8.1 trucks, silverados, avalanches, and suburbans and a few are over 200k and havent had any major issues that im aware of

 

I have a friend that has a 8.1L He love the horsepower but not how thirsty it is. But that's his own fault. (heavy left foot)
It's been very reliable for him.

If you could get a maintenance history on that burban to see if it's been reliable to him
