2003 GMC lift questions. ROOKIE

Im just a basic guy with a garage but will have a bud whos a harley mechanic and another bud whos a transport mechanic apprentice possibly helping, I have 33's or 285/75/16 I want to put on my 2003 GMC 4x4. I want to make the tires fit affortably so i was thinking a body lift or leveling kit, what ever is easier, my friend siggested body lift and my question is how much of a lift do i need to fit the tires without having to extend the wires and what size of spacers do i need so that my tires wont rub on the frame (i have those basic black fender flares). Any help on what i should do or where to order these items from would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

How do you know the tires won't fit? I have a 04 GMC Z71 and the LT285/75R16 tires fit just fine. Have a tire mounted to one of your front wheels and install it to see if it clears. Maybe no more than a couple of turns on the torsion bars is needed. Worth a try.

285/75-16's on my stock 01 with no problems. It's got the Z-71 suspension, that may make a difference.
