2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 z71

I am approaching 300,000 miles on my 2005 Chevy 1500. With no issues and in extremely well condition, I am wondering if it would be a good idea to put a bully dog chip to increase performance/gas mileage/ power/? Or would installing this bring more harm to my vehicle?
