2005 silverado z71 help.
I have a 2005 Silverado Z71, I noticed that when I make a turn I can feel a "tap" or something in the steering wheel. I don not hear any noises anywhere. I can't tell if it's coming from the axel or steering column, can anyone help me understand what this is....I'm driving in 2WD when I fell the "jiggle" in steering wheel.

RE: 2005 silverado z71 help.
According to the other threads on this site it is you "intermediate steering shaft". GM has a fix and the part number is supposed to end in 14.

Yes I see those other threads, however I do not hear the clunking that others are reporting....I supose maybe the worse it gets then you hear the clunking, though Im not sure.....thanks for the help.

RE: 2005 silverado z71 help.
I bet thats your noise...to make sure, unbolt the steering shaft under the hood...seperate the 2 shafts....Now "Stroke the shaft" (insert sex joke here) about 20 times, and bolt them back together...I'll bet your clunk is gone, temporarily

RE: 2005 silverado z71 help.
I have the same thing happening in my truck. just started acutally. it's that shaft I'm pretty sure. I've felt it pretty bad on other trucks ( chevy ) , so it will get worse.

After how many miles should I expect to notice this? I have 19,000 now and still no clunk. I don't want the clunk.

RE: 2005 silverado z71 help.
Is it possible that the first production runs had the clunk and the later had the fix? Or a difference from one plant to another?
