2009 Silverado nut in clyinder head

Hi,

Last week, I purchased a 2009 Silverado 2500. I needed 800 km to break it in before towing my new 32' fifth wheel. With 948 km on the odometer, I took it into a GM dealership located 450 kms from home. They took the head off and found a nut causing the intake valve to stay open. They don't know where the nut came from and insist it happened at the factory. They say that the chewed up nut caused no problem to the valve or elsewhere. Over 30 hours was spent on labor in Penticton, BC.

I want a new truck. I am almost 62 years old and a woman traveling alone, hauling this fifth wheel all over North America and planning to do some serious boondocking. I bought a new truck and RV to reduce maintenance problems. GM won't take this truck back. What can I do?

On a happier note, I am a retired commercial pilot and have traveled alone a great deal hauling my sailboat and other trailers from coast to coast. The fun has just begun.

Fair Winds,
Sarah

warranty

The truck is running fine. GM has offered me a 5-year extended warranty on everything. Both dealerships have been great to me. I am going to relax and enjoy the ride.

Did they put a new head on that side? If so you should be fine as long as the nut never came in contact with the piston. With the warranty they are offering than you should be OK especially if it is running fine now, just make sure to keep all your paperwork documenting what they found and had to do. Have fun...enjoy that open road!!!!
