2011 GMC 2500HD Tire Questions

Hey Guys, I am hoping someone can help me out. I have a buddy with a 2011 GMC 2500 with stock rims and tires (17" rims, I think they are 265/??/17) and he is looking to get some bigger tires as they need replacing. He has a leveling kit and that's it.

We are trying to find out what the biggest tire he can stuff under there is without rubbing or any other problems.

He just wants it to look a little better, like it has a pair... normal driving, no off roading and were in Maryland so we see a moderate amount of snow depending on the winter. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would tell you buddy to find a tire shop that is willing to work with him to find those big tires.
There are SO many variables you will be working against.

Not all leveling kits are adjusted the same. So one 2011 GM 2500HD leveling kit will not always be set as the next 2011.
Depending on the name brand of the tire he choices with make the difference too
My 265 70R 17 BFG grapplers don't rub at all.. even at high speed cornering with heavy body role.
But my NITTO Grabblers 265 70R 17 rub even at slow cornering :(

A good tire shop will work with you to find the perfect tire combo

Keep us updated on you buddies progress.
He is welcome to join our little family here too at Truck Forums

He needs to turn his wheels left and right and check to see how much clearance he has front and back of the wheel to the chasis and fender. Going to a bigger tire usually includes a wider tire. I went from a LT265/75R16 (32inch) to a LT 285/75R16 (33inch) without any problem on my Z71. Do a Google search and find a tire size chart to check the height and width.

What might seem fine on your garage floor may be different when your turning L or R when your driving around a corner while hitting a bumper or during heavy body roll with suspension compressing or extended.
