2011 silverado 1500 service maual

Hi.

I just bought a silverado 1500 with the 5.3 engine. A friend of mine has a 2009 service manual for his silverado 1500. Can I use that manual for general maintenance and service? Has anything really changed much except for the body styling?

Thanks in advance.

You're dealer didn't give you a service manual when you bought it? From what I understand GMs service manual hasn't changed much over the last few years. My new Sierra is due every 12 k for maintenance.

If you have On Star with it, On Star should email you when you need to go in.

If you go to GM Owner Center (http://www.gm.com/gmownercenter/gm/?campaignId=&vin=) and create an account, your owner’s manual can be accessed there.

Hi. I have the owners manual. I was just looking for the service manual, like the one that is used by mechanics. I have access to the 2009 service manual, but not to the 2011 and was curious if I can use that one. I figure not much has changed with within the engine bay, and most of the changes have been bodywork.

Most all OEMs do not publish factory service manuals anymore. Dealership technitions have to relie on Internet access directly to the OEM websites. (not assesable to the general public). It's a money thing. "problem with ur vehicle? take it to a dealership".
Bummer for us who try to do things ourselves but thats life now a days. There are a few web sites who offer materials on line but usualy charge for it and you may not get what your after. Try checking with GM and ask if you can purchase a hard copy service manual but I'm guessing probably not. Good luck, keep us posted .

Hello again,

I’m afraid tasutt2009 is right. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to make that information public. I apologize.
