2011 Silverado Siderail/step installation
I just purchased a new 2011 Silverado ext cab, and went to install a set of side rail steps. The body bolts have to come out to install the brackets, no big deal, but the rear bolt under the rear seat has apparently broken the weld and just spins. Can't get it off.
Question: does this happen often and is there a easy fix for the problem?
I talked to the dealership and they recognize that its a problem that they encounter quite often especially when they use impact wrenches to take out the bolts, which I had to do as I couldn't move the bolt.
They have to order a plug, then I have to take the truck into them for service, where they'll pull the rear seats and drill out a hole and re-weld the nut. My issue is cutting into a new truck, and how long is it going to take before it starts to rust? Any thoughts?
