33" tires on 3" lift?
 

Hey guys, my friend is thinking of buying a 2004 Chev 1500.
She wants to get 33's on it, but she isn't sure how big of a lift too get. Would they fit on a 3" lift, or would you have to get bigger? Also, what kind of tires would be best to get.

i have 33s on my 2011 with a 2.5 in leveling kit and they dont rub at all. id say you would be safe on an 04 as well. tires depends on if he wants mud, all terrains etc

Well her and I both live in the country, so she will probably want tires for all terrain, since there's always a good mix out here. What brand do you think Would be best?

In general I would say yes it could work.
But, you could have many different variables working against you.
Be aware there are many different tire sizes the equate to 33"
A 3" lift may give you adequate clearance but,
Your rim off set may play a factor whether your tires rub or not.

A good tire shop will work with her to find the biggest tire she can put on her truck with the lift it has and the rims she is going to use.
If the tire shop won't work with her? Go to another that will.

Yeah, I was worried about that. But I've been reading this forum for a few months now and figured it would be a good start to check here :)

Selecting a brand is subject to personal opinion and Brand loyalty. I did my research for the best wearing tire for my 3/4 ton and found BFGs to last the longest.

Ok, I'll get her to look into it aswell! I'm hoping that a tire shop can help her figure this out, like you said, then she can get the lift and tires all sorted out at once.

I have a set of 33's for my truck on a set of rims with about 2" more offseet then factory and they don't rub. (2005 GMC Sierra)

You will also find some brands are closer to the advertised size than others.

Extreme examples from the past was 44" ground hawgs about the same height as 40" super swampers. Interco is know for being closer to advertised sizes. Had 35" Gumbos that measured just over 33" in actual height.
