Default 4.8 and hypertech

Ok, not really satisfied with the hypertech yet. Do any of yall have any suggestions for settings? If not, im gonna go back stock and send that thing back. I believe I can find more power with other things.

Thanks!

What mods do you have backing up the programmer?

It’s not bad, but yeah, there are better ones out there. With my modifications, I took off the programmer and there wasn't much of a difference in everyday driving, only when you mashed the pedal. I just emailed Hypertech about their programmers lastnight. I asked them if there was any tips or tricks to getting more out of the programmer. I told them about this forum and how they need to prove themselves (so to speak) against the competition. We will see what they have to say. Even my neighbor with the SS has a Diablo now!

i have descreened the maf, bypassed the coolant line at the tb, transdapt tb spacer, and volant cai. my speeds stayed the same when i added the programmer, so to me, 300 aint worth it, i think its going in the box and going back!

I had the hypertech and then put in the granatelli diablo. There is a big difference. The granatelli is a lot more specific when you you put in the info. Way more power with it.

If you are installing a basic program they are all pretty close and 10-15 horse ina 5000lbtruck is hard to really notice. Both the superchips and Diablo can be more specifically programmed. Diablo has a specific tune just for STS Turbos. I didn't notice anything with any of my mods except gas mileage until I went backto the mountains. I don't have to press the pedal until it downshifts to maintain speed up a grade.

Yeah you definitely have enough mods to back it lol! I'd say trade it in, for maybe 50-75 buck's more you should be able to get a super chips. I'm looking to upgrade from the super chips to a more higher end or custom one now though. But in all honesty if you can afford to shell out less than a hundred more go with the super chip, if you can afford more go for the diablo and let us know how well it works

Yea, I believe I will send it back, get a b and m shift kit, headers, electric fan, then save for the diablo.

That sounds like good upgrades, just remember if you race someone they'll have a bit of an advantage over ya after 98-100mph unprogrammed. What electric fan are you looking at? I'm giving thought to that 3.6 taurus fan swap that was mentioned.

Im going with an ls1 fan. I called LKQ today about one, 65.00. I found the wiring harness on Ebay for 10.00, it has the plug for the fan, but i dont think it has the connectors to go into the pcm. I have the terminals and crimpers at work to put them on though. A friend of mine at a dealership has access to a programmer at work that he would be able to activate the pin for me, so this will be a pretty cheap upgrade.
