4.8L max stock output
 

Does anyone know what the max stock output is for the 4.8? It's a debored and destroked version of the LS1 so it should be pretty good. I ask because I may be getting a slightly used magna charger off a guy who has his own performance shop so I should be pushing big numbers. I need to know if the 4.8 can handle high to real low 400-500 hp/tq without having to beef up the stock internals.

Really the internals would handle about 500hp at the fly wheel but you need to check the strength of your tranny and rear end because the 10 bolt rear ends dont hold power that well compared to the bigger 12 bolt. Also from just a bolt on super charger and a good tune you could hit flat 14s and anything else with bolt ons will help you get that much more.

That power goes further with my truck, it weighs 3850lbs, with a 5speed tranny. I can't remember the designation but it's a getrag.

Thats true, I've heard of alot of rear ends going out, I belive I read somthing about them holding around 450 horsepower. I may need to look at a rear end, and rethink the s/c since it seems much more may be needed.

Also Ive heard that we could put posi setups with new end re-inforced end caps to strengthen the 10 bolt pretty good otherwise I guess a 12/14bolt rear ends are the way to go.

You could always pull the rearend off a HD in a junk yard and swap it out. Then you'll get your 12 bolt rear and get the gears that came with it. 4.10s and a supercharger would shave some serious time off the quarter.
