454 High Idle

Hmmm.. does it change once it is warmed up? The comment about "worse in reverse" is also a puzzler, what about when it is just in Neutral, does it race?

Mine does run hi-idle while warming up. but like a stated earlier the air sensor did the trick for me. and another time the mechanic discovered the throttle body gasket needed to be changed, which apparently is a common problem.

no it doesnt change when warmed up, idle is fast first start it kicks down some what after a few minutes but stays high. i dont know about reverse maybe just seems to go faster,but it sure feels like it.

Hate to tell ya, but this is at the point where I usually take it in to a mechanic who can do real diagnostic work.
