4L80E problems

While i'm cruising down the freeway @ 60 MPH my motor usually turns about 2000 RPM's. Lately I look down and it is slowly creeping up to 3000RPM's, but when i barely touch the gas the RPM's drop back down to 2000. like it's slipping out of overdrive or something. I have 56K on the rig and it is a 4L80E 4X4 anything i sould try? computer problems, sensor? I really find it hard to beleive my tranny is going out already. Dosn't slip in any gears just kinda floats out of overdrive but goes back in when i tap the gas.

I'm getting the fluid and filter changed this week. I don't have an overdrive button but I can downshift and see if it is already in 3rd or somewhere between 3rd and OD.

sounds like a converter lock up issue...i'd look for codes

argon should i just go down to the dealer and have them read the codes, or does the autopart store code reader read tranny codes?

RE: 4L80E problems

Took it to the dealer today and they looked it over, hooked there scanner to it and found nothing.I had them drive with me and I couldn't get it to do it. I went back to work letting it sit for like 5 hours then drove home and it did it again untill it warmed up so tomorrow i'll drive it to the dealer and tell them to let it sit all day and thendrive it. the guy told me that the transmissions almost never fail but they sometimes have problems with the locking torque converters. We'll see. They better not charge me $81 again to look at it or
I'll park my truck on top of the service manager.

Change the fluid and filter first. If it still does it, then take it back to the dealer. I had my tranny flushed at 60K and the fluid was shot. It shifted better but it wasn't til I replace the filter just recently that it really smoothed out and shifted near perfect. I just feels like its putting more power to the pavement now.

I'm going to change the filter and fluid next week, they said it smelled a little burnt. Taking the tranny pan offis going to make me want to put in a shift kit, I better let someone eles do the flush.
