Default 4x4 issues

Hi,
I have an 06 silverado and noticed the 4x4 is acting up. When I put it in 4 wheel high, it feels like i'm hitting the brakes, especially when I turn sharp. It also takes a little longer than normal for the truck to go into 4 wheel low, with the same results. It drives fine in 2wd. Help please!

When is the last time you changed the transfer case fluid?

I just bought the truck 4 months ago and haven't really done anything other than oil changes. It has 65000 km on it. How often does the crank case fluid need to be changed? The owners manual that came with it is french..might as well be chineese

Are your front tires taller or shorter than your rear ones? Also you may find in a turn that the automatic locking differentials take a little bit of a turn and pressure on the drive train to unlock and let the truck turn. I have a similare problem with my posi-traction rear diff, it likes to stay locked. (It is aftermarket) I can feel when it unlocks when I am in a turn, esspecially if it is a long lower speed turn.

You could go to a gravel parking lot, lock in the 4x4 (Low or high) and drive in a line then turn one way then back straight and then the other way. Do this for a bit and then unlock it, give it a few days then do it again. After the second time all of the fluid should be moving around and letting things inside the diff and transfer case move.

As for the shifting delay, well make sure to shift it in and out of low range a few times a week for a month or so. Make sure to back up and go forwards at least 20 feet or four rotations on your tires.
