Anyone know if it is possible to get a new 7 pin harness that will fit in the factory mounting location but does not use the factory wiring harness.

My truck is a 08 chervolet silverado with factory tow package. Just used the harness for the first time and it does not work. I removed the plug and disconected the plug from the harness and the connections are bad. The power is all there. Checked all the wires and all is good but just not getting a good conection between the two.

I want to just cut the wires off and connect a whole new universal 7 pin connector but use the original location. Is it possible?

 

i had the same problem with my plug. an for me i did not have the adaptor plugged in all the way. i thought i had, but i pushed it in a little further an it worked, hopefully this helps you. mine is an 2007-1500

 

I just ended up cutting the whole thing off and bought a new one. Does not fit just right in the whole but it is ok. There is a small gap underneath but can't realy see it. Also just screwed it in.
