Hey man, the 2001 2500HD is a great truck with a great engine. You'll enjoy the power of the 496ci, but you'll pay at the gas pumps. Expect to see 11-12 mpg with daily driving and 7-8 when towing a heavy load. There are things you can do such as intake, throttle body spacer, and exhaust that will help gas mileage a little. Make sure you check the engine real well. Did the previous owner do a lot of heavy towing? A lot of times with heavy towing, the first thing to go is the piston rings. Make sure the engine isn't burning any oil. I wish you luck in you decision. Let us know what you do!!
