my 89 4x4 1500 has an issue when you start it it runs fine let it warm up and drive it starts too miss and spudder black smoke from tail pipe and dies trying to restart it it wont let it sit for a spell and it runs again ive noticed that after it dies looks and smells like it floods out i can see a differance in the output of fuel from the injectors after it dies like almost double what it should, ive replaced the pump and the fuel pressure regulaator and im stumped now any help or ideas would be welcomed and apreciated thank you

 

My first thoght is a throttle position sensor. Are you getting any trouble codes?

 

the check engine light is on but not sure if its trowing codes out dont know how to check
would the tps cause what looks smells and feels like a flooded out when its runing bad it misses and puts out black smoke just started the smoke problem this truck ran great we went to put gas in it thats when it started this

 

its a crapshoot not knowing the codes...maybe a coolant temp sensor...

 

Yes the TPS can cause this, but I would go to autozone and get them to check it for free. They will also give you a print out of how to check and fix the problem.
