93 bad ecm or ignition module???
I have 93 chevy 1500, 5.7L, 4x4, long bed, at, ac, tbi, dual exhaust glass packs [ no converter ]. I replaced the ignition module1 month ago. The truck would turn over but no spark. it had oil underneath the module. Now its hard to start, very rough idle, and pings immediately upon taking off. I retrieved one code, 42 ignition control circuit. I checked the wires between the module and the ecm. they are fine. Also i have checked the sparkplugs, changed the wires, replaced cap and rotor, and have checked the timing several times.the serv no. on the ecm is 16168625 BBMD. I have called autozone and checker for parts check. they can't tell me what the BBMD stands for. Is that important for replacement? should i start with replacing the ignition module first? any help would be greatly appreciated thanx

RE: 93 bad ecm or ignition module???
Well seeing as how the ignition module isa heck of a lot cheaper than a new ECU, that'd be my first move. Not sure how much they are on those but I know the one on the Monte Carlo I had was only like $20-$40 I think.

it is not the ignition module. i replaced that today. the one i bought at autozone had a lifetime warrenty. it did not make the truck run any better or worse. thanx
