94 GMC Sierra Power Loss
Hey, I'm new to the site so not sure if this topic has been posted yet. I recently purchases a 94 GMC Sierra 1500 with 200K on it. It seems to have no power when I step on the gas. The truck has the 5.7L with the auto trans. The previous idiot (I mean owner) cut off the cat and muffler. The trans is slipping quite a bit between 1st and 2nd. I have to put the peddle to the floor to gain any speed what so ever. Mini Vans are still passing me while my foot is to the floor. Any ideas of what could be causing this power loss?
Thanks, Matt |
I think the tranny issue needs to be addressed before anything else. I have heard that a bad tranny can cause power loss. As for the power loss I would probably start with a full tune-up including plugs, wires, cap, rotor and filters. good luck!

Thanks! I also heard the trans could cause power loss. I will have to get it checked out.

I agree with Shuckles; get that tranny checked out! Don't know what kinds of nasty things are going wrong inside there .... :P
