94hevy truck electrical problem
 

Hello, I recently replaced the clutch in my truck, and also did some exhaust work, after all the work was done I pulled the truck out to drive it everything was fine until, I turned the lights on then all the gauges (except tach and speedo) went way off the scale, the instrument lights no longer work, both turn signals light up along with the high beam, indicator. When i roll the dimmer all the way down the gauges return to normal, but i have no dash lights. I replaced the dimmer with no change to the problem. I'm about frustrated, i thought maybe i fried something when i welded on the exhaust, i did have the positive cable off the battery when i welded, but not the ground. I thought maybe i pinched a wire but none of the lighting wires are around the transmission.

It definitely sounds like a ground wire somewhere has been disconnected. Recheck all the wiring around where you were working. Good luck!
