97 Silverado 350 Bad ground??

Newb, forgive cross post..

Forgive the cross post, but I'm ticked off...had a salvage engine with 91K put in my 97 Silverado. Runs like a freakin' top...except for every once in a while, it just won't start. Key it, and nothing. Mechanic said, "Oh, it's a bad ground." He moves it, and the truck starts. Well, now, once a month, we have a just won't start moment. The third time was NOT the charm, they moved the ground strap, and it pulled the same $chit tonight, at my ex wife's house. (Oh the irony...!) I undid all battery connections, and the ground strap and let it sit and think. Reconnected all of it, and still no dice. 45 mins later? It starts.

What is going on here? Thoughts??

TIA

Mine did that before. I figured out it was the starter solenoid. So I just replaced the starter and no more problems.

My starter solenoid died a slow and painful death slowly having less power every time. Are you noticing anything such as that??

Welcome to the forum by the way

Hey, thanks for the welcome.

No, it always seems to key right over, never a hesitation...except for when the whole damned thing quits.

Once I got it home last night, I started it 4 more times, it's great. When it quit last night, I'd started it, drove it 30 miles, turned it off, picked up my kids, started it, went to eat, started it, blah blah....always a champ til I want to go home....grrrrr...

Sounds like a starter to me... bad brushed or a bad solenoid...
