97 vortec engine help
 
rebuilt my vortec 350 i bored it .030 over eagle rotating assembly (pistons crank rods) comp cam xtreme energy camshaft 08-500-8 is the part number put a set of flowtec shorty headers on also....my concern is that it does NOT even have the power it had before i rebuilt the engine....need help i just cant figure it out and it is driving me crazy

Are you running carb or injection? Did you put stronger valve springs on the heads? Need more details friend. :)

i am running injection the cam is from comp cams and i got the recommended springs that it said i would need

I would call Justin @ Black Bear Performance to see if it could be a computer issue. It might be a good idea to go ahead and have him send you the module to plug in to your truck and drive around with. It will let him know what is going on and what needs to be tweeked on the computer end. You may be confusing the stock computer set-up with all the mods.

It seems that my truck is overheating. Can you tell me wich is the normal operating temperature range for the 1997 Vortec 4300 V6 Engine?

Normal range is 180 to 220. Closed loop happens about 177. So the guage will usually stay just under 200 if you have the stock OE stat in there.
