abs/brake light on dash
I have an 01 Silverado HD and just started getting an ABS and Brakedash lite when I hit a bump. I have checked the front sensors and the plugs on the ABS unit but have not had any success.Any one had the same problem? Thanks

RE: abs/brake light on dash
Yeah i have the same truck and my brake and abs light have been on fo two years. Im pretty sure im going to have to replace the wheel bearings in the front of my truck but their so damn expensive its going to wait. It might be just be your speed sensors but you should have someone scan it and see what codes are in the system and go from there.

RE: abs/brake light on dash
mine came on awhile ago, and they thot it was the wss but then started making a noise, when i turned, was the wheel bearing almost ready to fall out.

RE: abs/brake light on dash
Id call the dealer and have them run youre vin. I did and the said I had some recall work. So they gave me some new speed sensors, some brake pipe and tailgate cable's. FOR FREE!!!!!!!!! Free is the best

RE: abs/brake light on dash
if you want, give me your vin and i'll check er for recalls...it may be best to e-mail it,as the pm system here holds very few characters if i have a lot of info for you

RE: abs/brake light on dash
They ran the vin on my 250 and it wasnt covered under the recall because it was the 2500hd if it would of been a 1500 it would of been taken care of. Its pretty much bs though because all of the trucks had this problem.

RE: abs/brake light on dash
I have the very same problem on my 2000 silverado 1500. I have reset the computer and checked it for codes and it always goes away when I plug the code reader in but will come back on every now and then. I replaced the brakes on the front and rear and still the lights randomly come on and go off. Ive heard in the past that only the first owner of the vehicle can recieve repairs due to recalls... does anyone know if this is true?

RE: abs/brake light on dash
alright, so i have a 2000 chevy 1500. randomly the abs & parking break lights will pop on while im driving. what could cause this or what could i do to fix it myself without going to a shop?

RE: abs/brake light on dash
Call the dealer and see if you have had the speed sensor recall done yet. All you have to do is give them your vin and they can tell you.

Does this recall cover 2005 Silverado? My ABS and Brake dash light came on and I "field tested" the brakes thay worked fine. Its below zero and when I checked the brake fluid after I came home the light went off? Sounds like a senor is messed up.

I have a 2000 silverado 1500 with the flashing light syndrome also. I replaced all the brake lines several weeks ago due to rust. Yesterday the ABS light, Brake light and now the 4WD lights are coming on and going off. I DONT HAVE 4WD. The brake fluid is fine. ABS seems to work fine. and I dont find a front drive train. There is no rhyme or reason to the flashing. Trust me I recorded it and watched it back on my phone. Nothing when stopped. Just when moving. The next thing I will check is the wheel sensors. Any ideas or solutions? I hope I can fix anything.

alcors11,
If you would like to email me with your VIN I would be happy to look into recall information for you. Christina GM Customer Service |
My son's truck has the ABS/Brake light on too. We checked the parking brake by unplugging it and the light started blinking. We then checked the brake fluid sensor by unplugging it and the light went off. We believe it's a bad sensor. Does anyone else's truck have this same issue?

Christina GM Customer Service My brother suggests that one of the front wheel hub monitor being bad. The computer doesnt see the wheel turning so it turn off the ABS system. That triggers the light. Since there is a series of lights flashing at different times I can imagine the computer trying to reset and monitor the wheels |
can i post the vin via e-mail?

EBCM Bad solder joints
it could also be the solder joints inside the EBCM Relay under the drivers side door in the inside of the frame rail. The solder joints were pooly done from factor and have a tendency to loose connection momentarily which will throw the codes but when you turn the truck off and on again it will reset since the connection is stable again.
Resolder the joints in the relay. Search you tube for Silverado Relay Fix |
