AC Compressor question

I bought a new compressor, dryer and orfice tube. The old compressor had a high pressure switch on the back with 2 wires plugged in. the new one does not.. How necessary is that switch? It has another one on the high pressure line. I understand if the pressure gets too high and the other one fails it could ruin something but other than that will it work? I'm trying to get it all put together, I'm suppose to meet a buddy of mine to pull a vacume on it tomorrow morning.

you MUST have the high side switch or the A/C will not work....there are 2 for a reason!

The paper work with the new compressor said it was a replacement for both styles with and without the pressure switch on the back of compressor.. I wonder how the trucks that came from the factory without it worked? I dunno, we will see in the morning. I will let you know.. I run into tons of stuff farming that the factory puts on that is not a necessity...

You will need it or the compressor will not turn on. The new compressor should have a block off cap held in with a snap ring that needs to be replaced with the switch from the old compressor or a new one if you choose.

Mr. Shamrock , yep that is what I did.. I went back to the parts store and the guy there said he has saw people leave it out and make a jumper but for 18 dollars I put the switch in..I pulled a vacuum found 2 more leaks, fixed them. I pulled another vacume and it held. I'm good now. I'm blowing 36 degrees at the vents and it was a 100 yesterday
