RE: Advice on Intake Gasket

not overly tough...but a couple of roadblocks.

the power steering pulley needs to come off.You can work around not taking it off,but that adds to trhe job a good bit.
you can not set the timing without a scanner,so you'd have to pay a shop to set it...WARNING...most indy shops don't use a scanner to set it,they guess....so look into it first.

we do em at this dealer for about 450 bucks...not super-high.

RE: Advice on Intake Gasket

I did mine on my 1998 in about 10 hours and put in new plugs, wires, distributo cap and rotor while I had the truck apart. By yourself a repair manual- I used a haynes and it helped out quite a bit. It's not a very tough job just make sure you take your time and remember the right order to put everything back together. And to do yourself a favor so you don't have to do the intake gaskets again fill the cooling system with regular green antifreeze. My intakes went out twice within 75,000 miles using the stock **** dex cool. Now I have 180,000 on the truck and the intakes are holding good running green antifreeze and change it every 2-3 years.
