Advice Needed
 

I just bought my first Chevy pick-up after 25 years of Fords and I need some advice to determine if what I am experienceing is just break-in stuff or if I have a real problem. It's a Silverado 1500WT with a V6 and 5 spd transmission and just over 400 miles. My questions concern the following drivetrain issues:

1. Sometimes the transmission is difficult to near impossible to get into first geat, as if the linkage is jammed. Double-clutching seems to help. Other times it shifts fine??
2. On a couple of occassions, at a slight roll with the clutch disengaged I tried to shift into first before I was at a compelte stop and I got a grinding. I thought that first gear had a sycnronizer, doesn't it?
3. There is a lot of slop or free-play in the drive train, so much so that if you don't time the pedals right there is an audible clunk. Is this typical of Chevy's?
4. The clutch begins to engage very close to the floor, but it seems to be fully disengaged when the pedal is depressed. Is this the typical pedal position for these trucks or is it possible that the slave cylinder circuit needs to be bled?

On a more positive note, I love the engine so far and it's a really comfortable truck to ride in. I would appreciate any owners of a similarly equipped Silverados letting me know if what I'm experiencing is typical, or if maybe I have transmission trouble already.

If it's still under warranty better have them fix it before you drop a gear!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the input GMSUV. At this point it happens so infrequently that if I brought it to the dealer odds are that it wouldn't happen while he had it anyway. I think I'll just give it some time, I drove it this morning and everything worked exactly as it's supposed to! I have 36,000 miles to get the bugs worked out.
