Default AFM/Active Fuel Management - 2008

Does anyone know if the frequency of shifting from V4 to V8 can be adjusted. Specifically when I'm on the freeway and the road has the slightest incline, I would like to stay in V4 mode longer to conserve gas.

I have the 5.3L engine.

Thanks!

You might be able to have it adjusted with a tune Give Nelson a call and they will tell you.

Yeah they can either turn it off or leave it go. Nothing else.

I have a 2008, 5.3L also. As far as I know, it can't be changed. It would defeat its purpose, if you could change it.

Actually there are quite a few things a tune can change including shift points, fan engage temps, etc.

As I understand it the V8 mode is set from the factory to engage at 6% throttle position, but it can be changed to 8 or even 12% to help stay in 4cyl mode on flat roads..

I'm working to verify now if there's someone in the DFW area that can do this for me. I'm also trying to verify if it will compromise my warranty in any way.

I'll report back after I get some better answers..

I heard the V4 only makes a difference in flat areas. The AFM does not make a huge difference in our area from what I can tell.

Guy form Pittsburgh here has a tuner on his 08 Silverado (its a trinity tuner, nice a hell! Monitors engine parameters while driving) anyway, he says with the tune and the AFM removed (turned off) he gets the same MPG as stock with the AFM on.
