RE: aftermarket head units

:) I suggest that you keep your existing radio head unit and just add an iRiver ATA 100 fm transmitter which plugs into your lighter socket. Plug your ipod into the ATA 100 and listen to your ipod thru the existing head unit. Why do you need a cd player when a cd has to be changed every 30 minutes. My Creative Zen will play for 24 hours without changing anything. I have audio books, tons of music, and the audio bible on mine. It sounds great thru the factory head unit. You might want to upgrade the speakers but my factory 2007 Silverado speakers sound pretty good.

Alpine 9855, Leaving your factory radio and running a fm mod won't make you happy. By getting rid of that factory radio your gonna gain a lot. There will be better sound quality all the way around.
The factory speakers will sound a lot better with an aftermarket head unit. And with the direct hook up to your i pod you can put it in the glove box and control it all from the head unit. You won't have to worry about bad sound quality that comes from an fm mod either.

Personally I'm a fan of Pioneer. If you get a Pioneer Premiere HU you don't have to buy the ipod cable - it's built in. I've been running Pioneer HUs in my vehicles since my first truck when I was 13. I bolted the CD player on under the steel dash of a '62 Dodge truck and I just gave that same deck to my brother in law a couple of weeks ago and it still runs and sounds like a champ! Post what you choose.
