airleak around door
 

I have an airleak around my driverside door that starts to become noticeable at highway speeds. It just sounds like air rushing in around the door, like the weatherstripping is off. I checked the weatherstripping to make sure that it is in place, and it is. What could be causing this problem, and how easy is it to fix?

first thing do you have a third door? some people can't seem to close mine all the way and it makes that sound.

it still may be your weather stripping, run your ac on high and take a stethoscopeand listen all the way around your door frames once you find the spot thats hissing away at you try puting foam or dubble sided tape underneath the gasket.

I have the same issue, but to me the air seemed to be coming through the rear driver side third doorwindow. I fiddled with the window, nothing special, but don't see anything messed up.

could just be the weatherstiping wearing out in one spot.

Sorry for the late reply....

I had this problem on'90 Silverado- weatherstripping looked perfect, but had LOTS of wind noise. The real culprit was worn out door hinge pins. They would allow the door to sag down so much that the door was in the wrong place for the weatherstripping to do any good.

If you open your door, pick up on the end of it to see how much loose play you have - ifthe door hinge pins areworn pretty bad, you should be able to notice significant slop. Door hinge pins are fairly cheap to replace - Although if they're worn, there's a good chance that the door roller pin (thing that keeps your door propped open when you get out) is either bent or broken. A little bit of a chore to replace that piece, but not too miserable, provided you buy a door spring tool - my hat goes off to ANYONE who can install their door spring on this vintage of truck w/o this tool.

My 04 extended cab is doing the same thing around the window on the rear pass. door. The seal looks fine and I just checked the hinges. You can mess with the latch to make it go away, anyone kow how to make the latch pull tighter?
