RE: AMSOIL

I have heard mixed reviews about using it in the diff. I have heard it would be just fine. But i also here you should not use anything but what gm puts in it.

RE: AMSOIL

Does the Amsoil have the GM spec on it? Is it GL5? I know Royal Purple claims to have a FULLY compatible synthetic for our Diffs(including the G80 Locker) as well as for the electronic 4 wheel drive(instatrac?) and available through some retail autoparts chains like NAPA and Oreilly's.

i'm sure its fine, but i'd read carefully and MAKE SURE they are willing to cover it.
it is illegal for a car maker to reccomend any 1 fluid brand...they just say it must meet certain standards

RE: AMSOIL

I forgot to mention something Argon touched on. There is a law called the "Magnuson Moss Act" that states that if ANY manufacturer requires you to use THEIR product to maintain warranty ,they have to provide that product FREE. I have personal experience with this, as a friend bought a new F350 with the then Brand New Powerstroke Diesel, which the local dealership charged $139 for the oil change(like 12 quarts and a $40 oil filter), so he started buying his oil and filter from me(worked at a NAPA then)the filter was approx $12 and being a WIX product was top shelf anyway. He ended up in a "Beef" with the dealership over Warranty(they were going to void his warranty if he didn't have them do the changes(not even just buy their product) so I got him in touch with our factory rep who gave him all the legal documents which he brought to his attorney(by the way the dealership was stupid enough to give him their demands in a hand written note). The end result-he let the dealership do all the oil changes and other maintenance for the duration of the entire warranty(including extende one he bought when new) and then HUNG THEM, in small claims court for THOUSANDS of dollars, just on principal for being A-HOLES. I LOVED it and tell people about it all thwe time.
