any remote starter gurus out there?

I bought a ProStart remote starter yesterday. I think I can install this without a problem. My question is that I have a base model 2002 Silverado with no power locks, the installation guide says I may need another module because of the Passlock security system. Should I disregard this and will this give me problems on the install?

you will need another module to bypass the passlock system just so the engine will start

depends on what system one is just a plug in and some other ones tap into wires. i will tell you i'm a gm tech and there is a big problem with people tappin the purple wire for a tach signal which will make you truck run a lil diff thats y all the new car have remote starters built in

Yeah, I could see problems arising from tapping into these wires. I was going to hook up the purple wire to the ECM's red wire #10 according to a website schematic but the wire wasn't red so I didn't want to risk it. It also said you could hook it up to the negative wire on a coil or fuel injector. Not sure which wire this is.

If you don't use a factory system or one thats made for your vehicle its not with the agony of chasing wires. Universal kits suck unless you have a wiring harness kit.
