anyone having charging system troubles on an '06 5.3?
 

Hey guys. I'm looking for charging help. My '06 is having spirattic charging fits running as high at idle as 15.2 volts and off idle sometimes up to 16.1 volts. Still being under warranty, I've taken it to the dealer, and they replaced the alternator. It's still doing it. I have no idea. unhooked my amps just in case, and still doing it. Is anyone else having this trouble? "06 silverado 5.3 crew cab z71.

make sure its not "normal"...newer stuff "charges on demand",thus the gauge fluctuates

Might be the gauge is the stock gauge the only on youve tryed to check it with?

It should not get that high. The highest it shold get is about 14.8. It has nothing to do with being a newer. You should maybe try taking it to another dealership to see if they can find anything.
