Big brakes on a budget?!?!
Ok I own a 91 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton 2wd. I kow that baer makes a VERY nice upgrade kit for the brake system (13" front rotors w/ 4 piston calipers for the front and a disc conversion with dual piston calipers for the rear. But quite frankly I am on a budget and cannot shell out the 3k that they want for this upgrade.
The question is; isn't there a 'swap' that I can do using corvette components to get a similar set up at a much cheaper price?
I believe a early to mid 80's corvette would use a similar set up but have been unable to find a local parts store with the components in stock to take measurements from.
Does anyone know which year(s) I should be looking at for direct bolt-on replacement of my stock braking system?

If your on a budget, I wouldn't worry too much about the rear brakes. You could put some slotted disc's in the front with the matching pads for a good price. Vehicles only use about 10 -15% braking power on the rear. The rest is up front. Now you could look for a rear axle at a junk yard out of a 99-04 1500. They have rear disc brakes. Doin both and you will spend less than half of that 3 g's you were quoted.
