Big problem
 

I recently bought a 2003 silverado z71 4x4 that had the torsion key lift and blocks in the back. When I got it I put new ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, idler arm and pitman arm as well as swapped the keys out for the factory ones. Now when you turn the wheel all the way to the left or the right it feels like it is locked in 4 wheel drive. It feels like one tire is getting full traction and the other is trying to slide. It drives like a dream as long as you dont turn all the way. The guy that had it before me had a 4" block in the back and had the keys turned up to match the back. What could be making the truck do this?

Definitely not much help here. No one has had this problem or knows anything about it?

did you get it realighned after your replaced all those things even thow you replaced them and there new it still may be out of alignment
get that checked then go from there

Yes that was the first place that I went, that was my initial thought was that it was out of line. But, soon as I got it back it was just a little better but still does it. It feels like your in 4 low positive traction front and rear driving on gravel, It is terrible.

well i havent had that happen to me yet but try to rock your truck back and fourth foward and reverse maybe the 4 is stuck i know with my 88 the 4wd sometimes stayed on and i had to rock the truck back and forth then it came out

Why did you take out teh aftermarket torsion keys and go back to the stockers? Did you also remove the 4 inch blocks out from under teh rear? If not maybe it is putting the truck in a bind with the rear so high up? Shooting blind, but you never know. Or maybe the tires are way over sized and it is locking against teh frame, body, etc...

^^^^ That's what I was going to say - are the tires rubbing since you lowered it back down? What size tires do you have on it? Factory wheels?

I put it back stock due to the rough ride. I put the stock 265/70/17 tires with the stock wheels back on it. The truck is in 2 wheel drive, I dont have a clue what could be causing the problem.
