its more then just the spyders

guinell1 05-20-2011 08:25 PM

should it have a different gearing for more torque like 3.55:1 or 3.73:1 so there is less stress on all the gears?

Since you already have it apart instal 373s or 410s. Better to do it now and the correct way. Especailly if you are going to keep the lift and the bigger tires.

well my dad put money down on a rear end from a junkyard that has 342 gearing. i dont know what to do. haha. i guess if it looks good when they pull it i just slap it in and if it blows again ill do it the right way. its not really what i want. id rather find one with the right gearing. but i heard 4x4 rear ends are wider then 2wd rear ends? is this true?

are 4x4 rear ends really wider then 2wd rear ends?

cubpak89 05-22-2011 09:34 PM

i am not sure but the post i had about the cleaning of the gears i wasnt tryin to be a smart a** as i have seen people pull rear ends from junkyards and put them in without inspectin and three days down the road the rearend blows again
and the width thing i would compare the new with the old put one in front of the other as to see and measure but again i am not sure if they are different

About 3 inches wider.

ok so me and my dad put the rear end in from the junkyard. when we opened it up the spyders did have some pitting but it should be fine for now. i guess this is just gonna be a temporary fix. does anyone know anything about 14 bolt rear ends in 1500s? where can i get one with 6 lug hubs and that will work with disc brakes?
