Blower Motor Resistor Question
Looking for some help. I'm on my second resistor in two years and this one is on it's way out also. The last time was about a month ago I replaced the blower motor, the resistor and used a new wiring pigtail. Last week the blower stopped working on high and when I checked the pig tail connection it was melted on the three terminals on one side. What gives? Do I need to use genuine GM parts for this? The last one I used was Auto Zone and before that NAPA. Thanks in advance.

Well first, I'd get a new good pigtail connector on there with good terminals inside the connector. I've seen where a poor terminal connection creates resistance and thus heat. Personally, I install GM resistors quire frequently, and they tend to last. I rarely see repeat repairs on these unless the heater box is filling with water for some reason.

There was a recall on theses for certain year Silverado's. 2003-2006 I think for 10 years 150k.

I'm working on a 03 Silverado BTW. I'm going to try an original GM replacement with another new pigtail as suggested. Many thanks. It's good to have another opinion.
