Body lift for 2001 Sierra

I'm looking at getting a lift kit for my 2001 GMC Seirra, and was wondering about body lifts. I have always used suspention lifts, but was looking and can get a 3" body lift for about 300 bucks. Do they look good, do they do any good to the truck for clearance?

I've never used one, so just wondering peoples opinions on them.

Thanks

3" body lifts on GM trucks look very cheap. The frames hang pretty low in stock form already. They will give you extra clearance but they are also harder on the body where the mounts sit. Only time I'd run a body lift is a 1" to gain clearance for cleaning/maintenance of an offroad truck.

Strickly my opinion, varies by state, warranty void if opened, price TBA

If I was to get a suspension lift (probably 6"), would it be the same kit for the for the 1500HD and the standard 1500? I don't know if the extra spring in the rear would mess with it or not, I really don't know much about lifts.

Just a suggestion...

You probably already considered this, but:

If your thinking about going with the 3" body lift, then why not just go with a torsion key lift?...3" in the front and 2" out back for under $200.

I actually hadn't thought of that. I'll look into it.

Check out CCM off road. Their kit is forged steel and comes with a lifetime warrantee I believe.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't torsion keys just preload the T-bars more?
I'm not a fan of any "lift kits" that don't address CV joint and ball joint angles.

That is correct, but if you don't hav the scratch for the full lift then it's a trade off...

Here is the thing. I am 6'10", and don't like having o climb down to get into my truck. Over all, I want a 6" total lift. The reason I was really asking about the body mount lift, is because, I already have a 3" suspension lift that I got off of craigslist pretty cheap, but it's not tall enough by its self.

A mild 3" suspension lift plus a small body lift for tire clearance and some bigger tires can help you reach that 6" + lift your looking for.
I'm not much of a fan of extreme lifts do to the fact of the strains it puts on CV joints, but keeping the suspension under 3" will help to reduce the chance of premature wear.
and minimizing the body lift will help to prevent your truck from looking wrong.
Big tires make the lift look awesome.
