Alright, I have a 2006 Silverado 1500. V-6 Work Truck package 2WD. Roughly 150K miles.

Lately, any time I accelerate, slow down, turn too sharp, hit a bump, etc., etc., etc. the Brake System light and ABS light come on with the obnoxious chime. I have been told it's the speed sensor, so I first want to verify if that is it. Secondly, is it possible to disable the chime until I have time to get it repaired? My brakes work just fine and the chime will go off for minutes at a time. It's obnoxious.

Nope, no disabling it. Also, if your red brake light (!) light and your amber (ABS) lights come on at the same time and go off at the same time, chances are you're not looking at a speed sensor being the issue. When I see stuff like that, it's usually the module loosing communication with the network (CAN bus).

 

Nevermind. Brake fluid was pretty low. I think that fixed it.
