BTSI Solenoid

Hey all, my Brake/Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) Solenoid has gone out making it so I am unable to shift out of park. I can turn the key on one click and then shift to neutral and go from there. This is not a long term fix however. I have not been able to find the part online at any of the parts stores. Any help on where I can find it, or is there a way to just bypass it all together.

Thanks for the help.

Personally, I'd call a trans shop and see if they'll sell you one from their supplier. That's assuming you're okay with swapping the solenoid yourself. I've take apart a 4l60E valve body before. Should be able to do it from just dropping the pan, if I'm not mistakin'.

I have been reading around, and it seems like it is either on the column or near the break pedal. have not seen anything that states that is is actually in the transmission. I could be wrong though.

Reasearching on.

Oh wait a minute, I was thinking of a different solenoid. Sorry, my mistake. You're talking about when you press your brake pedal and it lets you shift from park into reverse or drive. I'm not sure what mechanism does this job ... I would look into the brake light switch.

I would think that the brake light switch actuates some sort of physical lock on the shifter.

From reading this can be the cause as well. Though I would think that is the break light switch was bad you would not get any break lights, maybe I am wrong about that. worth a shot though, at only 8 bucks, and I cannot seem to find this mysterious BTSI solenoid anywhere listed to buy.

Maybe call a dealership and see if they can get you one.
