Bug guard and bridged amp.

I just bought me a new bug guard and heard that if it were to be installed in the winter there is a good chance that it would crack when the weather warms up in the spring. Dose anybody know if this is true?

Also I have a 2 chanel amp butI only want to run one of my subs. I heard that the amp needs to be bridged. First of all what is bridging the amp.Second is it something thatI could do myself.Or shouldI have somebody else do this for me?

don't know about the bug guard but if the amp is bridgeable, it should have a diagram on it. If not all you have to do is make sure the amp is 2-ohm stable, then hook the left pos to the pos speaker wire, and the right neg to the neg speaker wire. Some amps are the opposite of this, btu this is thenormal setup, and it won't hurt if you are wrong excep it will not be very loud. This will dramaticlly increase te power to the speaker, soturn it down at first then sk=lowly up to adjust.

Thanks smoke that makes sence so i dont think it will be hard to do. The speaker is able to handle 1200 watts so i think it will be ok there. Now of as for the2 ohm stable im not sure what that is soi have no idea if it is. But I will try and find out.

Hey RJ, here's a link that pretty much describes the benefits and pitfalls of bridging.

http://www.mobileaudio.com/rac-faq/rac-faq_toc.html

Look at #3- 3.5.5. I also have a very simple diagram explaining it but can't find my file on my computer right now. I'll dig further. Never heard of the bugdeflector thing but very interesting. I was thinking of getting one myself but maybe I'll wait for the responses.

Ciao
